Robert Taylor , Spangler Arlington Brough ,Actor estadounidense



Nació el 5 de agosto de 1911 en Filley, Nebraska, donde su padre era el médico del pueblo. Cursó estudios de música en Nebraska. Posteriormente entra en la Universidad de Pomona en California para estudiar medicina. Realiza actuaciones en el grupo teatral universitario antes de hacer su debut en el cine en 1934, donde interpretó su primer papel importante un año después favorecido por su agraciado físico, le apodaron "el hombre del perfil perfecto". Trabajó junto a Greta Garbo en Margarita Gautier (G. Cukor, 1937), después protagoniza Ivanhoe, R. Thorpe, 1952, Aventuras de Quintin Durward, 1955 y Los caballeros del rey Arturo (1954). Intentó escapar de los papeles que le imponía su físico Billy el Niño (D. Miller, 1941), donde encarnó a un Billy demasiado suave. Durante los años 40 y 50 sigue apareciendo como galán en títulos como "Escape" (1940), "El puente de Waterloo" (1940), y "Quo Vadis" (1951), aunque le gustó interpretar a personajes corruptos, así, sus dos excelentes interpretaciones de gángster (Senda prohibida, M. LeRoy, 1942) y de policía clandestino (Prisionero de su traición, Roy Rowland, 1954). En 1939 se casó con la actriz Barbara Stanwyck con la que compartió cartel en varias ocasiones: "His brother's wife" (1936) y "La contraseña" (1937) y con la que volvería a reunirse en "The Night Walker" (1964) una película de terror dirigida por William Castle. Se divorciaron en 1951 y en 1954 contrajo matrimonio con otra actriz, Ursula Thiess. Falleció el 8 de junio de 1969 en Santa Monica, Los Angeles.
